Jack Levison has been a scholar for over twenty-five years. He has founded a scholarly monograph series and co-directs, with Jörg Frey of Zurich and Johannes Tromp of Leiden, a funded international, interdisciplinary research project on the historical origins of early Christian pneumatology. Ekstasis: Religious Experience from Antiquity to the Middle Ages
This series publishes monographs and collected essays on topics concerning religious experience in antiquity. Volumes in this series will address a diverse array of religious experiences and movements, and particular expressions of religious experience, such as ecstatic trances, magic, healing, prophecy, divination, and dreams, as well as other phenomena that contribute to the scholarly exploration of religious experience.
Christian Pneumatology
Under the direction of Jörg Frey of the University of Zürich and Jack Levison, and with the cooperation of Johannes Tromp of the University of Leiden, scholars from Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States of America will join forces to study the historical roots of the Holy Spirit.
